Our expertise

BH&C Dynamics® expertise is recognized in the following fields of engineering:

Acoustic Engineering

We have a long-term built-up partnership with Getzner Werkstoffe (Austria) – a world leading company in noise and vibration engineering. Our architects and acoustic engineers work with Getzner’s engineers as a join team to provide a one stop solution that includes site noise investigation, noise transmission mechanism  analysis, noise reduction engineering, material consultation, procurement, installation of acoustic materials and final acceptance tests. We are committed to design and deliver tailor-made, professional, safe and cost effective solutions to our clients. Our professionals are dealing with the most common noise transmission mechanism in the industry including airborne noise, structure-borne noise and flanking noise.

Vibration Engineering

By application or correct isolator, a serious problematic phenomenon namely “resonance” could be prevented from happening to your machinery and supporting structure. As result of resonance, there are always fatigue damages initiated from small crack to potentially progressive collapse of the machinery and foundation if corrective action is not timely taken. The most effective approach of preventing such potential damage to machinery or structure would be consideration of vibration effects from early engineering stage when the foundation and supporting structure could be tailor-designed to achieve a certain stiffness level and/or adjustment of the system mass and structural damping. As the result, the system natural frequencies can be kept away from working frequency zone of the machinery.

Nevertheless, in certain cases, the preventive action could not be made or the machine has been put in service then excessive vibration could trip the machinery. BH&C Dynamics® could be there to help by working closely with customer and carry out intensive site investigation, collecting all needed analytical factors. We will then perform all necessary engineering analysis using in-house developed calculation tools and third party specialist software such as finite element analysis program ABAQUS® or ANSYS® so as to provide an accurate solution. The analyses could, if required, extend to detailed fatigue assessment, fracture mechanics analysis in some instances to validate our solutions. As result of the engineering stage, our customer would be very comfortable with our isolation solution and later steps will be ordering isolation materials or isolating devices from our partnership suppliers who are industry leading manufacturers of vibration and shock absorption materials.

However, occurring in most of the time with common types of machinery, there usually wasn’t time for a detailed study – an answer was required immediately so that equipment could be restarted safely and reliably with the most probable cause of failure having been determined. BH&C Dynamics® is there to help you by giving immediate interim solution based on our long-term built-up case studies and records while other investigation and analyses are being carried out.

Lifetime Extension of Constructions

Based on deep expertise both academy and engineering experience about deterioration mechanisms, preventive methods and system reliability of material, machinery and structures. BH&C Dynamics® gives a comprehensive solution for lifetime extension areas:

  • Offshore fixed platform and related structures
  • Floating structures (FPSO, FSO, SPAR, TLP)
  • Offshore and Onshore steel pipelines
  • Static/Rotating Machinery
  • Infrastructures

In many cases our expertise has been extended to Fracture mechanics which is the field of mechanics concerned with the study of the propagation of cracks/flaws in materials to find root cause problems and find out the most accurate solution. BH&C Dynamics® gives a complete solution for fracture mechanics applications into the following industry applications:

  • Fracture mechanics tests for metal and nonmetal: CTOD, J-Integral, KIc, CVN, DWTT.
  • Computational fracture mechanics: based on extended finite element codes Abaqus, ANSYS.
  • Fitness for services solution based on FADs, J-Integral Analyses, probability fracture mechanics.
  • Desktop study for fatigue cracks, corrosion-fatigue cracks, crack propagation of flaws in rotating equipment.
