There are two aspects when considering application of vibration isolator for machinery: first to protect the machinery from external vibration sources such as supporting structure or foundation and second to protect the supporting structure or foundation from physical damage caused by the vibrating machinery. Since the machinery and foundation themselves are simultaneously vibrating under its own exciting forces, the most commonly used method of machine foundation isolation is “elastic decoupling”.
